50–70% of all shoulder complaints seen in primary care are in the subacromial region.

❇️ Exercises are frequently indicated as the first line of treatment

Often subtle coordination exercises for scapular stability are recommended.

However evidence highlights that strengthening exercises are more effective.

“Scapular motion, position and periscapular muscle strength did not mediate the effect of scapular stabilization exercises on shoulder pain and disability in subjects with subacromial pain syndrome. Muscle strength of serratus anterior, upper, middle, and lower trapezius mediated changes in shoulder disability.”
