Imaging doesn’t tell us what’s causing you’re pain. Pain is murky-factorial in most cases. Typically we’re under-prepared for our activities & this mis-match of the demands of our activities & our capacity to handle those demands is the main upstream source of pain. The goal isn’t to correct structural pathology, but to build up functional capacity so our current capacity is equal to or above our required capacity.

Unfortunately, people are told that that have “wear & tear” & they should restrict their activity. Also, that hurt = harm. The inevitable consequence is we become both under-prepared & also over-protective.

Learning that you’re pain is not a sign of serious disease or that you’re tissues are fragile is the first step. Our goal is to reassure you. Then to reactivate you so you address the source of the pain source – under-preparation.

Not only is activity generally safe, but the motion is the lotion. Rest is not rehab but leads to rust. In fact the gift of injury is you’re biological age – which is different from you’re chronological age – will get younger as you increase you’re activity.

Remember pain does not equal injury so “let’s move”
